Conflicts of Interest

COIについての面白い論文をよみました。Bariani, et al. Self-Reported Conflicts of Interest of Authors, Trial Sponsorship, and the Interpretation of Editorials and Related Phase III Trials in Oncology. J Clin Oncol 31. 2013 (in press). です。
J Clin Oncol, Journal of National Cancer Institute、New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Oncology, Cancer, Lancet Oncologyという一流雑誌のphase III 150の研究のCOIをいろいろ解析したようです。結論としては、COIがあるauthorもeditorialも、positive conclusionとは関係ないとのことです。私の興味は、p6のWe found cases of negative trials being discussed positively by authors, similar to findings of another survey. In that study, 21 trials had positive conclusions despite reporting negative results.というフレーズであり、堀田先生がJCOにcorrespondingでかみついたのを思い出しました。当時のことで、わかる人しかわからないと思いますが（Hotta K et al. Cure- or Care-Oriented Regimen for Stage III Non–Small-Cell Lung Cancer? J Clin Oncol 11, 2011）。
